Business website design and development

Websites for businesses big and small: company sites, content platforms and landing pages that load fast, rank properly and turn visits into enquiries.

Most business websites are bought as decoration and priced as a commodity: a template, a logo swap, a contact form, done. Then the invoices keep arriving and the enquiries don’t.

We build websites the way we build software, because we’re a software studio and a website is software. That changes what you get. Pages engineered to load fast on a phone on bad reception. Structure and metadata that give search engines something to work with. Forms that land in the right inbox with the details your team needs. An editing setup the person who owns the content can drive without ringing a developer.

Big and small, same standard

The size of the business doesn’t change the workmanship. We’ve built sites for sole traders and local firms, and we’ve built the platform behind News.net, which serves more than 110,000 local news sites from a single hub. A five-page company site gets the same fundamentals as a platform, just less of them: performance, accessibility, clean structure and a launch that doesn’t break anything that already ranks.

What does change with size is what the site has to carry. A trade business might need the site to feed quotes into a job system. A firm might need gated client resources. A retailer needs an online store that syncs stock and finance. A venue needs bookings that route properly instead of generating email chains. Because the same team builds those systems, the website can connect to them instead of standing apart from the way the business actually runs.

What we won’t sell you

A few things stay off the quote on principle. Page-one ranking promises, because nobody can honestly make one. A chatbot bolted on because it’s fashionable, when it mostly annoys the people trying to buy from you. And a rebuild you don’t need: if your current site’s problems are fixable, fixing them is usually cheaper, and we’ll tell you so even though it’s the smaller job.

After launch

A website is at its best the day it goes live and drifts from there unless someone owns it. At handover you get the accounts, the documentation and the training to run it yourselves. If you’d rather not think about updates, backups, monitoring and small changes, our support and maintenance plans cover exactly that, with the scope and response times in writing.

Send us what the site needs to do, roughly how many pages you’re imagining and when it has to be live. We’ll come back with a straight recommendation and a fixed quote.

Common questions

It depends on what the site has to do. A focused company site is a different job from a content platform with hundreds of pages or a site with booking and payment built in. We scope it with you, quote a fixed figure in writing, and tell you which parts are driving the number so you can trim them if the budget's tight.

Whichever fits. WordPress done properly suits plenty of businesses, and we'll set it up without the plugin bloat that slows most installs to a crawl. Where content rarely changes or speed and security matter more, a static or custom build is often cheaper to run and much harder to break. We recommend based on your site, not our preference.

The technical foundations are, because they're basic workmanship: fast pages, clean structure, accessible markup, metadata, schema, sitemaps and redirects handled from day one. What nobody can honestly include is a guaranteed ranking, and we'd be wary of anyone who offers one.

No. The same team has built everything from single-trader sites to the platform behind News.net, which runs more than 110,000 news sites from one hub. Big and small get the same engineering care; the difference is scope, not effort.

Yes. Whatever we build, your team gets an editing workflow they can actually use, plus training and documentation at handover. A site you can't update without a developer decays no matter how well it launched.

Your call. Some clients take the handover and run everything themselves. Others put the site on a support and maintenance plan so updates, backups, monitoring and small changes are handled. Both are fine, and neither locks you in.
